Q-Unit's Greatest Hits

Seemingly the direct musical descendent of DJ DangerMouses' "Gray Album", Jimmy Lesondak give us "Q-Unit", mashing up Queen and the G-Unit/50 cent crew. The original site's at q-unit.net, but the mp3's are actually mirrored here because of bandwidth problems.

I'm not sure what to think of this. It's actually not that bad, but its tone is strange. Unlike the Gray Album, it almost seems mocking. Maybe I'm reading too much from the artwork instead of the music itself, but it just doesn't feel like it has the same weight. That could be a result of bad writing on the part of 50 cent, but also - I have to admit - while I love Queen, they're no Beatles.

it's definatly supposed to be more comic than 'gray album', and doesn't feel as well thought-out to me, so i can see why it doesn't feel as, uh, 'weighty'.

i like it.
