The Vatican has just released a list of seven NEW deadly sins - apparently St. Peter felt the need to update his 1500 year old standards. Consider this "the memo":
|
Environmental Pollution
Genetic Manipulation
Accumulating Excessive Wealth
Inflicting Poverty
Drug Trafficking and Consumption
Morally Debatable Experiments
Violation of Fundamental Rights of Human Nature
|
i'm thinkin' sequel:

These seem awfully specific, and yet not specific enough to know what the hell they're talking about. Wouldn't "Accumulating Excessive Wealth" and "Inflicting Poverty" both fall under Greed, anyway? Plus, do they define "Fundamental Rights of Human Nature" or tell us what makes an experiment "Morally Debatable?" What made the original seven so popular was that they were easy to remember and made for great art. These just don't do it for me.
I agree with Mr. Sin.
I think WILLFULL AND DELIBERATE IGNORANCE might be a good addition. Then again, the classics have endured for a reason.
can we consider "willful and deliberate ignorance" mental sloth?
